Wow, mine is acting up in a similar fashion, but on the cold start. Cranks forever before it catch. Spits, pops and misses until warm. Starts and drives like a dream after.

I found it helpful to install a clear fuel filter. At least you know you're getting gas into the carbs. If you don't have one, pull the tops off the carbs and check that there's enough gas in the bowl. Next, look down the carb throats. You should not see gas or wetness unless you activate the throttle. If you move the throttle, the little accelerator pump spout should deliver a steady squirt above the throttle butterfly. If it doesn't, the accelerator pump may have failed.

Do things improve after the engine warms?
