Just got side steps for my 2003 ML320. They are the new type, I think where the bar attaches on a vertical plane, rather than the horizontal plane of the older ones. It also has athe angled support bracket. Also got instructions, look to be from svc manual. Insructions pretty clear, except in step two it says to modify the front and rear underride stone shields after removing them. However, it does not say what that mod is. Can you help with this and any other little tips on this installation? THanks in advance.
