I tested my 617 turbo and found it was only making 8 psi of boost max.
I built a manual boost controller, see:
The"D.I.Y."Manual Boost Control and installed it on long hoses so I could adjust in in the cabin while driving.
I set it to 13 -13.5 psi max boost at 4000 rpm. Is that too much boost?
I then adjusted the ALDA top screw (the tamper seal was already broken) out another 1/3rd turn, so the screw was all the way CCW, and stopped. This adjustment made an obvious improvement in power.
It doesn't make any black smoke, so I could shim the ALDA and readjust the top screw for even more power.
