Maybe, maybe not. Maybe the extra dynamics of the 124 wear heavier on the 201 shock and reduce life.

You might very well be right however if I paid a shop to buy and install parts for my car, they had better be the parts for my car and not something that just happens to fit.

If I were OP I would talk to the shop and ask them why they put those on...Clearly there are differences between the two shocks.
