As the son of a teacher, I can pretty firmly say that like a lot of employers, it really depends where you work and the people you work with. Handful of my friends are public school teachers and if heard stories of the bs they put up with. On the other hand they seem very happy. Hang in there for a bit, it seems like this job is made for the type of person you are (of course speaking through the Internet).
