Don you have to lead and motivate from my non formal school teaching perspective. I am having some issues with the younger generations as well.

Had perhaps three good teachers in my formal education at best. Things educationally have probably not improved much since then. At least we respected teachers for trying to do their jobs long ago. That is somewhat history in too many cases now as well.

Parents also seem to expect teachers or society to somehow make up for their poor parenting skills. Overall It has looked pretty dismal to me in these areas for many years already. I no longer get frustrated by these things today as they are just what they are.

I remember reading years ago that about five percent of the north American population had to be really functional for the system overall to hold together. Times have chanced drastically but the educational objectives have not kept pace with todays needs enough. I also have no ideal what the ultimate cost of this will become. I almost suspect it has already had a sizable impact.
