There is a group of Samurai enthusiasts that are using a VW Diesel engine, don`t remember which one. maybe the Rabbit Diesel.

I agree there are some really bad hack jobs out there, keep your eye`s open. I was thinking Foam too, or just rusty around the weld tacks and the foam to seal it.
