This is a really old post but thank you. My 190E had exactly the same symptoms, and I'm so glad I found this thread.
The Mercedes mechanic had the car for two weeks and they could not isolate the problem. No one would have thought of the fuse contact!
You've saved my sanity, as it had been driving me nuts.
