I just recently had success getting my 72 220D started and running. I have removed the radiator and oil cooler and plan to have them boiled out/cleaned. I have good access to the front of the engine and thinking what I can replace before I replace the radiator.

-Vacuum pump, how do I know if its bad and needs to have the diaphragm replaced? When the car was running it idled fine, revved up when pressing the accelerator, and did not smoke. Did not drive the car so I don't know how the engine runs under load.

-Oil cooler lines. Do the lines need to be replaced? Is it good preventative maintenance. I didn't notice any successive oil leakage when the engine was running.
