I just finished doing an old matte stainless 629 Smith and Wesson. Simichrome on a buffing wheel first followed by Mother's Mag Polish and a dremel. It looks like it's nickel plated now. Wouldn't have done it but the bbl had been shortened so it had no "collector" value anyhow.
