Since it is all about price point today. The wife just buys various units as they wear out.

Maybe someone is still making good quality at a reasonable price but I do not know who it would be.

Actually I noticed her most recent cheap bissell is really good with pet hair and our dog does shed a lot even with brushing regularily. If it lasts a year it amortizes at 4.00 per month. If longer is better of course and depending on usage it very well might.

Very easy and much lighter for the wife to move around as well. still I would not call it an electric broom. Reasonable size pick up container and power brush width. Needless to say most vacuum cleaners like these are coming out of China today or the parts are.

The paremeters of design will enter into the situation if you are talking a lot of dirt though of course. My guess is in design the cheapies are far from commercial units. The wife has more powerful older units theoretically of higher quality but by and large they just sit because they are far more inconvienient to use.
