For what its worth, I had the same year car, and the SRS light went on all buy itself. It did not interfere with the engine running or starting. What I did find out, was that a regular code reader cannot read or cancel the SRS codes. It must be done with a special reader using the code reader port in the engine bay. Sorry to hear of your accident.
