Open the hood in the straight up position and perform a visual inspection of the area where all the vacuum lines run beside the brake booster. Look to see if there are any loose ends and hoses for them to fit in. You sounds like you have a vacuum leak. Do a search on "mighty vac" portable vacuum pump used for just this purpose.
