Thanks for the reply. It is a 240D non turbo four speed. Smoke is black, both the smoke coming out of the intake and that from the exhaust. I am confident it is from overfueling or poor fueling. I have put about 500 miles on it with no apparent change in the oil level.
It does have more blowby than I would like. The oil cap stays on at warm idle, but does dance.
Thanks for the cam timing information. I figured there was a way to do it and figured that was worth verifying before messing with the injection timing.
I have never seen any diesel put exhaust smoke out the intake when running
I have a harbor freight compression tester and will head down that road once I have readjusted the valves and checked cam timing.
