I pulled the head at about 310,000 miles due to a small external coolant seep. I did a valve job while the head was off and replaced the vacuum pump, glow plugs, and the water pump as a precaution. The *original* alternator finally bit the dust just a couple months ago. I also replaced the A/C compressor some time ago, but that was due to the speed sensor failing, not the mechanical section.
I am the second owner, and I am pretty sure that the transmission is original too, but it has developed an incontinence problem - probably the front pump seal.
Overall, an absolutely amazing bullet-proof & long-lived car. I don't ever expect to have this good of an experience with a car ever again.

That makes me sad that I sold my '95 E300. I had not one major problem the time I had it, and I got it (cheap) with 300,000+ miles on it. If it is still going, it probably has half a mil on it now. Agreed, great cars. I am hoping to get another soon...Rich
