This is the car that got me into Mercedes! 1970 somewhere in Marin, I pulled my autocross competitive Spitfire into a gas station and this guy had the hood up on his 190SL. Oh my! tune intake, tuned exhaust, dual webers, overhead cam, Aluminum hood, nice dash! There was no way I could find an overhead cam for a Spitfire! It took me 2 months to find one I could afford.

Then I started to learn you NEVER buy a Mercedes you can afford. Its the Mercedes you can't afford you really want.

I managed to dump the rust bucket stock 110HP snail to nail a 250SL That is still in the garage, yearning to go for a nice long drive this weekend.

Long story short, my wife drives a benz, my son drive a C55, his wife drives a benz.

By the way, did they rip out the drop peddles? I couldn't believe a 1957 car had peddles from the 40's.
