I have just received the second oil analysis on my '97 E 300 D, using two different oils, and both have high chromium with other metals about normal. This oil analysis was on M1 TDT 5W40. The previous analysis shown was using Rotella T6 5W40. I am curious to know if anyone with this engine has had their oil analyzed, and if so, I would be interested in your level of chromium. I have Delo 400 synthetic 5W40 in it now so I will see how it does, but I am kind of sorry I analyzed the oil. Now I worry about the rings being chewed up, but I have no intention to tear into a well running engine.
