Making that swap would not work so well. The S2000 engine has a wide rev range making shifting rare. Use an engine with a lower redline and you will be doing more shifting. While the GM motor might work better on a big track, Auto X is completely different.

I thought this car was a K20 car not an F20C car.
I agree with you though, the car is using gearing and powerband to make up for lack of gross HP.
Switching to a turbo ecotec would be incredible, if this was a street car. He'd need totally different gears and be adding the 50 pounds back with the turbo and possibly more. With all 5 or 6 ratios in the box, 4.XX gears and a turbo ecotec making 400hp it would make a hell of a Ferrari hunter... on the highway.
Seems like work and expense for no gain. Its a new car, I'd imagine at this point the car is faster than Tom. When you hit that wall in terms of times, then I'd go looking for more.
