Are the wheels definitely the correct offset for the car? I fitted some BBS alloys to my, ahem, '93 M5, and these had a similar effect to that which you describe.

It turned the wheels were the incorrect offest for the car, and increased the track enough to cause pretty bad tramlining.

Equally, the tyres are likely to be a contributing factor.
