The trans from the V8 is a 722.0xx.
The trans in the 280 is either a 722.1xx, or a 722.3xx. 1980 is at the change-over point.

The trans from the V8 could be adapted (change of convertor and convertor housing, and perhaps input shaft), but the result would be disappointing.
