Self leveling suspension removal
Hi all,
I am looking to remove my self leveling suspension at some point, I will then be swapping out the shocks and springs at the same time as I am aware that the rear shocks are hydraulic.
I am aware that the ride quality will change due to this which is why I will be holding off as long as possible before removing the setup. The reason is simply the weight of having the hydraulic suspension with the pump, heavier shocks and spheres, not to mention any issues if one of the shocks go bad.
The car is only on 235k miles so should be good for a while and the ride quality is really good which is why I am going to leave this to the last possible moment.
The car will be used for drag racing as its my E300 turbodiesel sleeper project, I will be looking to save weight where I can and I can easily remove probably 200kgs from just removing the spare wheel, tool kit and the back seat as well as changing the stock front cloth seats for racing seats. An example is just the lower part of the rear seat weighs around 20kgs!
I just wanted to ask what would be involved, would it just be a case of disconnecting the lines, pump, spheres and replacing the shocks or would the ECU throw a code owing to the fact its an OEM fitting on the wagon?
Thanks in advance!
