Did lose my Solidworks, Open Office and antivirus installs. They are all there file-wise, I had to re-do the "set-up" programs for them.
I did a "new install" over a corrupted version of Windows7. It came out better than I was expecting.
Did the "upgrade" on my laptop. Other than taking twice as long as the "new" no problems.
MUCH better (so far) and a considerable bit faster than 7. Not quite Linux type speed but it's getting there.
Of course it's early yet.

That's interesting, I just did it this morning and didn't lose my SW.
I want to set up a Linux dual-boot. How hard is it?

I see the makings of a new radio show called "Mike's Tech Support". We distribute a phone number that is ostensibly for tech support, but actually is a line to your show. Then, people call in for tech support and you give them ridiculous instructions like that
