When I had my '90 300TE, original components and also still on R-12, the vent temps would be roughly the same, but because of the size of cabin, it would take much longer get the same feeling of coldness, even after venting the cabin (windows partially down and sun roof tilted for a few minutes) at speed initially to flush all the hot air. Tinting the windows made a huge difference in reducing the heat when parked and increased the effectiveness a/c.

sounds like a cabin temperature sensor lazy or not responsive, usually due to the little fan that sucks air across it fails and dies quietly inside the dashboard. My W124 would get a chilly before the blower slowed down and warmer air was added to the mix. This was resolved by replacing the little motor in the dashboard and also cleaning the thermistor in the dome lamp assembly. After that the system worked so nicely that I usually forgot that the A/C was running at all - a very comfy 75F in the cab.
