The vast majority of new car buyers don't know nor care how many cyls their car has or which wheels are driven. All they care about is the badge and how much is it going to cost per month. MB is going to sell 1000 AMG badges for every one 700hp Jeep from Fiat and an AMG badge is far more profitable than a 700hp engine with a warranty. Smart move IMHO.
