Sounds like a cheap reman which would be odd installed by the dealer. Is it an oem part?

I was wrong...it wasn't an OEM part. It was an Autozone reman part. Marked REMAN, and had the sticker on it still showing the same markings as the one we picked up from Autozone. Also, and I think this a bit odd...it's a smaller part than the one my mechanic just put on it. It appears they had the wrong par to begin with.

Wife test drove it, and came back with the same response I did...the steering is tighter now, and more responsive. It feels great.
