I had the same thing happen to me, let it sit for 1 week after towing home, and to my amazement shifted like nothing was wrong , ended up changing filter and fluid and didi find pieces of clutch material in pan , has now been running 2 years since it happened with no problem , i do now have a delay in reverse, car has 206 k miles 94 e320 trans was rebuilt at 89 ,000 miles
