Yes the oil turns very black after just a 100 miles or so and this is normal. From what I understand, it has to do with the suspended sulfer particles in the fuel and how the exhaust gases are recirculated. Brand new, diesel specific oil (delo, delvac), out of the bottle is the normal golden color.
