Bought these for my dad a few months ago:

They use RCA or 1/8" headphone jack input so we had to get a fiber-rca converter to work with his TV, but they work great. TV speaker volume can be set at a reasonable level for everyone else listening and Dad can have his own volume however loud he likes. It's adjustable right on the headphones. Built in rechargeable battery, just plunk them on the base station and let them do their thing.
He's got hearing aids but for some reason refuses to use them? Only on "special occasions," which has happened once in the several years he's had them. I don't get it.
