The part is kind of available. It isn't available from the dealership by itself - you have to buy the whole throttle housing. This costs about 200 euros which isn't far off from the cost of the second hand ebay offerings plus shipping. So if my attempts to rebuild the switch and wiring fails I'll be (reluctantly) buying a new throttle body from the dealership.

At present I am hopeful that my dreadful soldering skills will improve!
