nitrogen gas in tires

hi all

my dad who drove trucks when there was chain drive rear ends, wood spoke wheels and solid rubber tires and who i thought had a handle on anything in the big trucking equipment use to tell of a story about trucks using nitrogen in the tires specially in the deserts of the west coast because the nitrogen gas did not heat up like normal air does. a cooler tire runs for a longer life.

kinda made sense to me so if the air line jets use nitrogen just think about the landings we've all seen for years on tv and what not. they can really smoke them up on landing so that would create heat.

so it does lend some credibility to my father's story about truck tires and heat.

just my .02$ worth
