If the gas station has an option to pay gas, then it's no issue to pay cash. I'm rarely at a gas station when all pumps are in use and often pay cash. It's only an extra 3-4 minutes. If the guy behind me has an issue with that, then it's his problem.

Good observation! This may be his incentive to extract the most from his non drive time
Do any places still offer discount for cash? edit: Now that I think about that, the discount seems to have gone away with high prices, which makes sense since the fixed part of the CC fee to the vendor becomes a smaller percentage, but now that prices are down a bit, maybe this will return?
