Can someone describe to me how the underdash panel is supposed to fit on my 1995 E320? There's that black plastic piece with big black tabs. Are those tabs supposed to tuck under the upper piece or do they stay jutting out when it's installed?

I could throw it all back together, but I'd like it to look as it's supposed to. Thanks in advance for any guidance out there.
