I'd recommend checking the covers without removing the whole light, that was my point I guess. Kinda like removing the engine to replace the sparkplugs.
In regards to my other comment about the lights, not everyone is interested in upgrading everything to the newer look and are relatively happy with the appearance of the truck as is. I've agreed that the newer ones look better, but please don't call the old headlights "ugly".
