Suspension work can be done by an average DIY type, but any suspension work has the potential for serious injury. Depending on what you plan to do, you may have to compress the springs for removal, doing so without the proper compressor could be fatal. Some work can be accomplished without removing the springs.

There are some special tools that may be required, but this isn't because of sealed joints, it is because of the angle if insertion to the spindle.

As far as costs, you can figure it out by shopping through FastLanes online catalogue. For instance, I can replace almost everything on the 126, except lower control arm bushings for less than $550.00 (includes shocks and steering damper).

How to figure out if beyond your abilities? Buy the manual and read. You are the only one who can tell if the job is within your ability.

Rubber v. poly. I'd stick with rubber, unless you're racing.
