The 1984 & 1985 cars don't use the amplifier! The 1984 & 85 cars use a FLYWHEEL ring gear sensor that produces A/C current. The 1984 tach operated directly off of that signal.
The 1985 car has a computer that processes that signal & then sends it to the tach & a/c compressor relay. Many times if the tach is inop the overvoltage relay fuse is blown form jump start OR battery replacement. The OVPR is behind the rt outside dash vent.
