This is where the use of dye is best. The dye will run down the drain, easy to spot.
From a diy standpoint, a good sniffer is out of reach financially speaking. Heck, I chase down sealed system leaks at least once a week and I still can't justify a grand on a good sniffer. Those fifty dollar sniffers go off if you blow on them.
There is no affect to a mobile Ac system when there is one ounce of dye in the system.
