I dont want to hijack this thread, but what you mentioned is VERY important for your mother. I don't know if you are aware of this, but being in an environment from her Youth improves their mental state. See info below, and i would research this more to see if there are other things you can to help her. There is a huge issue with Nursing home patients being over drugged with Anti-Psychotic medication to calm them down, when studies have shows that just an little time in a Time-Warp room removes the need to Any Medication. The big pharmaceuticals don't like this, as for them it is profit over patients.
‘Time-warp’ rooms have been created at a care home and, despite appearances, represents the very latest in caring for residents with Alzheimer’s.
Staff say it helps to
CALM patients by transporting them back to ‘the good old days’, and stirring fond memories.
They also say using the room has led to a dramatic drop in the use of anti-psychotic drugs taken to combat Alzheimer’s.
‘The aim of the room is to help dementia patients tap more easily into memories from their past, triggering more memories that can give them a grounding when they may be confused.
