Sorry - its a 2000 CLK430. The vacuum actuator is just to the right of the airbag on the passenger side. The only way to get to it is to remove the glove box and at that you can see and feel it. The only problem is the little latch that holds it on - you cant see that and the actual actuator piece where it attaches to close the flap is out of sight.
