Rich - do you remember the very small MB dealership on Colorado Blvd named Lloyd Benson I believe. I think they sold both Mercedes & Volvo. In 1983 I bought my first 240D there (4 speed); sold it within one year, unsafe to get on the freeway. Bought a 1985 300D from VIP Motors in Palm Springs. There was also a Mercedes dealership on Main in Alhambra (Jim Marino). I have always understood that the first or one of the first few dealerships in the USA was Stahl Motors in Monterey (now known as Mercedes of Monterey). Two of my three W123 cars were sold new at Stahl (coupe & wagon).
