Take your main vacuum line to the vacuum brake unit off at the vacuum brake. Then hook your vacuum gauge to one of the small lines off the main. Stop off the other lines off the main if any, my W123 has only two small outlets. Start your engine, put your thumb over the big open end and you will almost instantly know how much vacuum your pump is pulling.
