My understanding,

Ate's are Tevas. They have the push-in brake pad retaining pins. Bendix have the pins with seperate retaining pins. Maybe I can state it another way. THe ATE's have the little circular compression-retainging spring intergral with the retaining pin.

Ate's are preferable, but both are interchangeable. Naturally, mixing is not a good practice.
