My dog used to hate baths. He was a massive dog - breed was a Slovak Chuvatch. Looks like a Great Pyrenees but larger. He was about 165 lbs and pure white in color. After the first few baths, he caught on and would fight like a demon when we tried to get him into the bathtub. Our solution? In the winter, he was professionally groomed (I have no idea how they did it, but they did charge us extra) and in the summer - we tied him to our tree in the backyard and he got the hose treatment. Once he was wet, he calmed down completely and we could wash him. 
He always got a treat after the bath. Didn't help future bath behaviour.
I miss him...
