IMHO, the only wifi solution I'd recommend is stuff from UniFi. It can be somewhat cumbersome to set up for home use, but the price and product quality is hard to beat!

What type of wifi router do you have at home? How far is it from your garage? You might be able to simply move your existing router closer to the garage.
