Check fuel pressure. The check valve can fail, causing a loss of pressure.

The fuel pump will run for a few seconds when you turn on the key. Until the car sees the crank moving, the fuel pump does not run.

Try cycling the key a number of times prior to trying to start to bring up the fuel pressure and see if that helps.
