Scary. When the idler mount breaks, seems it could jam the steering which is probably more dangerous than losing brakes or a control arm failure. I worry about all suspension and steering mounts in my 300D's, since formed from fairly thin sheet-metal. Compare to the rust-free CA car in post 4. The LCA pivot and K-frame attachments in my 1984 cracked. That was after a theft & curb crash when the PO had it, but shows how weak those points are.
