The EQ doesn't affect the recorded signal...it just tailors the output signal to your PC. That's why it still sounds the same when you save it.

The SRS Wow effect does the same thing...tailor the output signal, but leaves the original music untouched.

You need to purchase additional software to actually have the ability to add effects to your material.

Quality and desired results are consistent with cost. Sonic Foundry, Emagic, and Cakewalk make software to do what you are looking for.

Understand that MP3 is a compressed form of music reproduction, so your signal is not as good as the sampling rate of CD-quality digital. So if your source material is less than optimum, any enhancements you add will only do so much...might even make it worse...
