First-hand data points...I've been making BD since 2006 for vehicles and home furnace.
83 300SD has burned everything and is still running great. 69,000 on BD, WVO/RUG blend, used ATF, used motor oil.
97 E300D ran 72,000 miles on WVO/RUG blend and homemade BD. Too much RUG blend in NE winter made for long cranking and smoke at startup. Backed off to BD and all was well. Sold car.
05 Blue CDI...147,000 mi on almost strictly BD. All my cars get a small blend of D2 in winter to keep from gelling. The CDI did not like drywash BD when I experimented with it, so went back to water wash and all is well. Over the last 6 years replaced in-tank fuel pump, some weeping/soft lines to/from HP pump, and injector return lines. No other fuel-related issues.
05 black CDI...6,000 mi since purchase, 100% BD.
