W124 Sunroof Service: Parts?
Have everything ready to go for a headliner replacement (except the time, it seems). Since I see the sunroof panel needs to come out anyway, I figure a little preventive maintenance on the sunroof is in order, since I have no record of it ever being done.
I'm thinking about replacing the sunroof seal which looks pretty dried up, although it's not leaking. Gonna pick up a little but of the Gleitpaste and clean and lube as needed. Are there any other parts that would be worth replacing? I keep hearing about these "felt pads" that are in there, but for the life of me I can't find anything like that on the EPC.
Is there anything else that really ought to be replaced "while I'm there?" I'm thinking specifically of rubber, felt, or other materials that would be likely to degrade due to age and/or heat cycling. I just want to know before I have the whole thing apart, you know?
EDIT: I should mention that I'm aware of the special tools that are required to R&R the sunroof. I'm going to pick up the two red plastic guides, as they're only a couple bucks each. I'm probably going to skip the sunroof pliers, unless someone can give me a compelling reason not to. They don't look all that necessary, and the price of the tool has shot up to around $150!
