The problem you have is that the bridges are often bent and hard/impossible to fix without breaking them. If yours are not bent, lube it up (with the correct Mercedes lube) and replace the felt pads.
I tried fixing my sunroof and had the felt pads break apart once I got it going again. I might be able to make the bridge work with new pads but when I was at the parts yard I found a 190E made in December of 93 (one of the last off the line) and found the sunroof worked well so I pulled the bridge and it was in perfect shape. It looks like a different design than my early 93 190E. It certainly had a different transmission, as mine requires a 15mm socket and this one required a 16mm. I believe the assembly is basically the same if not exactly the same between the W201 and W124.
