Not sure how humane those sticky traps are... The worse was one got in just before breakfast, put it in a bag, but not ready to dispose in the can outside. Got sick of it screaming while eating breakfast, so spun the bag until quiet. After that, Dad uses the electric shock traps (no risk of touching it or getting yourself sticky) and those plug in repellents that use sound.
At my home, the feral cats in the car port roof keep the mice away. Totally feral and I don't feed them. I know they work, as twice they were scared away by the dogs (decided to have an all out cat fight in my back garden), the gnawing came back. Tried the mint trick and seemed to work.
Honestly, I would never ever let a mouser in my home: too much risk.
Peanut butter has worked for us.
